Sister Nuala Kenny is Emeritus Professor of Bioethics at Dalhousie University and Ethics and Health Policy Advisor to the Catholic Health Association of Canada. After an extensive career in paediatrics and medical education, Sister Kenny founded the Department of Bioethics at Dalhousie University in 1996 and turned to faith-based ethics after her retirement from the University in 2009. Kenny was one of authors of the St John’s Newfoundland 1990 Archdiocesan Report on Clergy Sexual Abuse (The Winter Report) and a member of the Canadian Conference of Bishop’s Ad Hoc Committee on Clergy Sexual Abuse which produced the well-respected From Pain To Hope (1992) and Breach of Trust; Breach of Faith (1992). She is recognized as one of the leading experts on clerical abuse in Canada and is the co-director (with Dan Cere) of the “Trauma & Transformation” Conference.

Sister Nuala Kenny was one of the authors of the 1990 Winter Report, the first major report on the emerging global sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. The analysis and findings of this seminal document still merit attention. The Report was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Newfoundland (Archbishop Alphonsus Penny).
